Now available for sale is this 1994 VR Holden HSV Commodore Series 1 GTS 215i 6 speed manual sedan with ABS & IRS, and HSV build number 054.
This VR has had only two owners, with the current ownership now being 30 years. First used as a daily drive for ten years whilst carefully modifying the vehicle for weekend track events over the next ten years. The car has not been on the track since! This vehicle is also now suitable for low-cost registration in the historic category. The Sherbrooke Green paintwork presents nicely, and the car also sits nicely on its original 17-inch HSV GTS wheels. The interior trim of the car is still in near new condition as it has always been garaged. Various improvements have been made to the vehicle including the 355 stroker V8 engine, brakes and suspension all of which are reversible should any new owner want to reverse engineer back to stock standard. This HSV now has a $35,000 engine installed and has only been driven 3000kms since being freshened up again in 2020. The original EFI Holden V8 block now has +020” thou oversize ACL type Larry Perkins balanced flat-top pistons fitted and has been fully ‘blue-printed’ running a compression ratio of 9.8:1, it has a nice strong idle. Main bearing caps are still 2-bolt but now with larger 7/16” high tensile steel bolts. The Harrop design 355 stroker crank is factory original equipment but now balanced as an assembly with its A9L conrods attached. This crankshaft was fitted new in 2016. Group A air/fuel induction system includes the rare VN twin throttle manifold and cast rocker cover set. Induction and exhaust include high flow polished EFI cylinder heads and a Crane hydraulic roller camshaft. Large 1.75” Pacemaker exhaust headers have been fitted to an evenly matched length road legal exhaust system. Gearing – final drive ratio currently is 3.887:1 shortened from standard 3.4:1 factory ratio using heavy duty 28 spline crown wheel and pinion in ‘mini-spool’ differential. And the list just goes on! The Holden VK Calais Director was introduced in 1985 as a top-of-the-line luxury performance sedan, developed by the Holden Dealer Team under Peter Brock’s guidance. It was based on the VK Calais, Holden’s flagship model, but extensively modified to blend European-inspired comfort with Australian V8 muscle. This Director is all that and a lot more. The original colour of Alpine White has been retained along with a full body kit and the addition of a factory sunroof. Interior is all to factory spec with Coppertone velour Scheel seats in the front and original rear seat. The dash has been refurbished and new carpet with sound deadening applied. The Director sits snuggly on a set of 20 x 8.5 MOMO wheels up front and 20 x 10 MOMO wheels on the rear with a tubbed rear end and thanks to coil overs in all four corners. Other modifications to suspension include chassis connectors, adjustable panard rod. A 355 stroker takes care of the power and is paired with a Trimatic with a 2800 stall convertor and a stage 2 shift kit. The diff is a 9” with 3.7 gears, billet axles and a Truetrac centre. All the brakes have been upgraded with VT Commodore rotors, calipers and master cylinder. The car is fully engineered in NSW. Some would argue that the “Big Port” XB GTs were the last of the true muscle cars of the era. Only 139 examples produced at the beginning of the XB range to be fitted with both 4V heads along with the Top Loader four speed gearbox. What makes this one that little bit more special is the fact it is mostly untouched and somewhat of a survivor. Still wearing all its original Red Pepper paint and blackouts. Sitting on its original 12 slot wheels with dress rims and correct centre caps. Extremely solid car with no signs of any accident damage. Recently received a silver award at the 2025 Falcon GT Nationals in Shepparton, Victoria. The car has only ever had three owners, with the current one owning the car for 27 years. Further to this the car has only travelled approximately 48,000 miles and only a mere 4,000 miles in current ownership. Even still has its original first registered number plates, original purchase receipt and Ford verification. Boot area still houses the genuine rubber boot mat and even the original Goodyear G800 red wall tyre on the spare wheel. A great opportunity to secure an honest example of this model. Mention the name “Shelby” just about anywhere in the world to just about any car guy and they will know what you’re referring to. Carroll Shelby an American automotive designer, racing driver and entrepreneur. Shelby was involved with the AC Cobra and the Mustang for the Ford Motor Company. Shelby's early racing successes led to a joint effort of Ford and Shelby-American to produce the Mustang-based Shelby GT350, starting in 1965, then the Shelby GT500, starting in 1967. Shelby produced those cars through 1968, then subsequent cars with the Shelby GT brand were produced in-house by Ford. This Shelby, that started its life as a GT350 has at some stage of its life been cloned into a GT500 and not just externally. Beneath the hood is a monstrous 427 “Side Oiler” cubic inch big block (cross bolt block) with twin carbs sitting on top. Behind that is a C6 auto transmission with a high stall convertor and lastly nothing other than a 9” diff with 4.11 gear ratios. The Shelby is believed to have been in Australia since the 90s and given a partial restoration while still retaining the factory interior. Still sporting its original and desirable colour of Nightmist Blue and riding on Shelby Magstar rims. Do not miss out on this opportunity to secure a world-renowned muscle car.
